It was this whole thing that we spent way too much time looking for and there were a lot of complications and then we had this vial of something that was supposed to cure a vampire so that they could die.

Not... [Wait, this means she'll have to explain Silas.]

Not like how we would die, but there's this immortal vampire. Like the most crazy dude - Silas. He can't die, so he wants to become human so he can die and then be reunited with his love and it's this whole thing that goes Horribly. Horribly. Wrong. Like - well, like most things.

He doesn't get the cure first. Katherine has it and then Elijah has it and then you have it and you give it to Elena, but she forces it on Katherine.

[A beat.]

I can stop. Like if this is too much... I can totally just stick to college and boring things about how Tyler and I broke up and how I'm totally your best friend.

[somanyadjectives]

[There's a big super duper long pause as he tries to process all of that and really, he just wants to talk about all the boring stuff because it's so much easier, but even that's kind of confusing because ... ]

Wait, I thought you were into Matt?

[Wow his head really hurts.]

[vampirebarbie]

That was a long time ago and when you're a vampire lying to your vampire hating boyfriend and then he figures it out and is on vervain and makes you compel him to forget and then fakes it and reports everything to my mom? It kind of makes it difficult to establish a relationship.

[Yiiiiiiiikes.]

So then you wound up with ... Tyler?

[Not that he's totally judging, but ... Tyler?]

[vampirebarbie]

I didn't wind up with Tyler, I fell for him. I mean, I helped him through a lot of things and that grows trust, Stefan. Trust that I didn't have with anyone else. [Not even with him at the time. No one trusted Caroline and to a point when Tyler was sired, no one trusted her then, either.]

It doesn't matter though, because we're not together anymore. I made him choose and he didn't choose me.

[somanyadjectives]

[He doesn't understand it, or get it, but he probably wouldn't unless he lived through it, so he's chalking it up to that and possibly the idea of Tyler being less of a douchebag than Stefan originally gave him credit for.

Or something.

Still, when the last part comes his face is appropriately sympathetic.]

[She sighs, glancing to the ground as she shakes her head.]

No, I'm sorry, Stefan. I shouldn't have unloaded all of that on you. I'm fine, Tyler's fine - we're just fine... apart.

[She looks to Stefan.] In the future, we're good friends - you and me, I mean. So I just, I'm just used to telling you everything.

[That makes him smile a bit. "Good friends" isn't something he often has and while he's not quite there yet - he's still just really getting to know Caroline, free of his brother's manipulations and who she is now that she's a vampire, so seeing her having come this far is ... uplifting, in a way.

And here Damon said she wouldn't survive.]

I don't mind if you still tell me everything, so long as you don't mind me asking for clarification every once in a while.

I can give you clarification, but so far all my clarification has done is create more things to explain. You know, a lot goes on in our lives. I have no clue why I didn't appreciate all those really slow boring days when I was a human.

Because they were slow and boring and you were human.

[He doesn't mean it to be admonishing, he's just making a point.]

But at least things seem to slow down a bit here. When the war isn't right at our front door, anyway.

Slowing down is good, I guess. Unless that just means the war is trying to get a running start.

[Stefan gives a bit of a shrug.]

It's hard to the say. Sometimes it just feels like it's always there, looming over our heads.

Okay, that's not good. [Caroline sighs.]

Are you okay here? I mean, don't just tell me that you're okay if you aren't.

I'm ...

[He pauses as he considers that for a moment.]

I've been better. But I've also been worse. There's still a lot I'm adjusting to.

[vampirebarbie]

Well, you have me here now. You can talk to me. [Caroline likes to be needed, to be important to someone other than herself.]

I'm an excellent listener.

[Stefan glances over to her then nods a bit.]

I'll keep that in mind. Especially since I have a feeling it's going to come up sooner rather than later.

[vampirebarbie]

Good. [She nods.] I should... probably get going. The whole... being kidnapped thing always distracts me from what I should be doing.

[Like finding where she's supposed to live... etc.]

[He nods.]

What house are you in? I'll stop by later and see how you're settling.

Oh! Freya. Charm... which I guess at least they got one thing right, right?

[He smiles a bit at that.]

[And with that he'll let her wander off to go get settled.]
